Here is one of my super simple but never-failing recipes. This one is an all-time favourite of my family and every friend that has tried it. The biggest bonus is it’s so easy to make.

I mean who doesn’t like pastry, and even better with meat. The crunchiness of the outside with the sweet saucy meat inside is just a perfect bite.

This is suitable for any dinner or lunch. You don’t need anything with it, but it will go great with a green leaf salad and some tahini.

I usually make 2 rolls, because one is never enough in my hungry house of men, LOL.

Method

Preheat the oven to 200 Celsius / 400 Fahrenheit.

Heat up the oil in a large non-stick fry pan. Add the onion and cook until see through. Add the beef mince and cook until brown, constantly stirring and crumbling it. Add the sweet chilli sauce, tomato paste, ground paprika, water salt and pepper and simmer for 2-3 min.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread one puff pastry sheet on it. Divide the pastry into 3 imaginal parts (along the long side). On one of the sides create diagonal cuts from the middle part to the outside, then mirror them to the other side. Lay half of the cooked beef mince mixture on the middle part. Fold the sides over the mixture creating a criss cross pattern (watch the video for reference). You must work quick with this pastry as it gets harder to work with the warmer it gets. If needed place a few minutes in the fridge, this will make it easier to work with the dough. Make sure the edges are closed tight.

Repeat with the second roll.

In a small bowl break the egg and mix. Gently brush the rolls with the egg mix and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake until golden brown for about 20-25 min.

Enjoy it warm, it tastes best when fresh out of the oven.
